Van Diemen ’90-’96 chassis wedge-type fuel cell made by Pyrotect:

5.4 Gallon capacity.
1.25″ I.D. fill.
Made from 100% hand laid urethane over kevlar. Allows for 50% crushability of cell.
12 bolt access panel. Torque spec on inspection plate bolts is 24-28 in-lbs (2-2.3 ft-lbs).
-6 AN pickup centered on the bottom rear of the cell.

Note: As of the December 2025 SCCA GCR, fuel cells in SCCA have no expiration date. GCR states “Fuel cells do not time out and have no expiration date.” All safety fuel bladders shall be constructed and certified in accordance with the FIA FT-3 or higher, which this cell is. FIA sanctioned events (and probably other sanctioning bodies) have the 5-year expiration rule with possible two-year extensions. For this cell to be eligible for recertification, it must be sent back to Pyrotect within 6-months either side of the expiration date for inspection and testing. Pyrotect will only recertify their own cells, same for most manufacturers. They bond on a new FIA certification extension label next to the original one and issue an extension paper certificate that would be shipped back with the cell.
