Low-profile, aerodynamic CV boot fits 6-bolt tripod joint housings:
- Fits all common 26mm and 40mm wide tripod housings that are 94mm in diameter. Fits Van Diemen ’94- current, Elan DP08, Citation, and Swift 016 among other formula and sports racer cars.
- Holes accept up to an 8mm diameter bolt.
- Half-shaft hole is 20mm in diameter, but easily stretches to 25mm
- Rubber channel at the neck of the boot that is approximately 5.5mm wide for running a clamp or zip tie to further help seal the boot to the half-shaft for grease retention.
- “Rough” edged seal on the half shaft to help keep tripod grease where it needs to stay…on the tripod and not leaking out.
- Two small rubber channels on the inner side that seals against the half-shaft for putting a small piece of a spray can straw (like from WD-40) into the boot, often under the clamp. Acts as a simple vent to release built-up pressure from hot grease, preventing the boot from overinflating and bursting or tearing, especially during hard driving or racing. It lets the boot “breathe,” stopping the grease from being forced out and protecting the joint from contamination
- Thick steel base flange helps to retain the tripod joint in the housing.
- The rubber boot is bonded to the steel flange via a vulcanization process that permanently fuses the rubber to steel through a multi-step process of surface preparation (cleaning, etching, and blasting), application of primers and bonding agents, and then molding and curing the rubber to the prepared steel under heat and pressure. It might not be the most beautiful part on your car, but this method creates a strong, durable, one-piece component that combines the flexibility of rubber with the rigidity of steel, resulting in a CV boot with enhanced performance and longevity for racing applications.
- Used with 26mm thick Tripod Housing and 40mm thick Tripod Housing that often uses the 30-spline tripod joint.
- Part 99D2015.
