FF1600 Mechanical Fuel Pump – Push-On Fittings for the Ford 1600 Kent/ Crossflow
A race-ready mechanical fuel pump for the Ford 1600 Kent/Crossflow engine — the heart of Formula Ford 1600. This pump features a durable cast body with barbed inlet and outlet fittings sized for 5/16″ ID fuel hose, making it the straightforward, secure choice for FF1600 cars plumbed with push-on hose and clamps rather than AN fittings. Includes pump and two paper gaskets.
It is designed as a functional match to the original equipment mechanical pump, delivering similar fuel flow and pressure — the correct, carburetor-safe supply for the Weber-carbureted 1600 Kent. Mechanical Kent pumps of this type typically supply approximately 1.5 psi, exactly what a properly set up FF1600 float bowl wants to see without needing a pressure regulator.
Indexable Top for Clean Plumbing
The pump’s top cover can be indexed in 60° increments, letting you clock the inlet fitting to point directly toward your fuel cell’s supply line. That means shorter hose runs, no awkward loops around the engine, and a cleaner installation in the tight confines of a Formula Ford engine bay.
Fitment
- Formula Ford 1600 (FF1600) — all chassis using the Ford 1600 Kent/Crossflow engine (Van Diemen, Swift, Crossle, Reynard, Titan, Lola, Citation, Piper, and others)
- Ford Crossflow OHV Kent 1.3/1.6 engines (711M and related blocks)
- Also dimensionally suited to other Kent-family applications that use the block-mounted mechanical pump, including pre-Crossflow OHV, Lotus Twin Cam, and Cosworth BDA-based engines — verify hose size and clearances for non-FF1600 installs
- Club Ford, Vintage Formula Ford, and street/track Kent builds (Escort, Cortina, Caterham 7, Morgan 4/4, and similar Kent-powered cars plumbed with 5/16″ hose)
Installation Notes
- Phenolic spacer block required. Just like the original pump, this pump must be installed with the stock-style phenolic fuel pump spacer/insulating block and gaskets between pump and block. The phenolic block sets the correct pump arm geometry and insulates the pump body from engine heat to prevent fuel percolation. Sold separately — see related products below.
- Use 5/16″ ID fuel hose rated for gasoline/race fuel, secured with quality hose clamps. Hose not included.
- Mechanical pump operation: driven directly off the engine, no wiring, no relays, no electrical draw — one less system to fail on track.
