Genuine Timken Aurora wide series spherical bearings, PTFE lined and self‑lubricating. The wide series carries a wider ball and race than the narrow PNB series, giving substantially higher static radial load capacity for the same bore — up to 37,000 lb (164.6 kN) on the -12.

Construction

  • Ball — alloy steel, heat treated, hard chrome plated
  • Race — 17-4 PH stainless steel, heat treated, PTFE lined
  • PTFE liner — AT 3200, permanently bonded to the race inside diameter and self‑lubricating
  • Qualified to SAE‑AS81820 Type A

Typical uses and applications

Wide series spherical bearings are specified wherever a joint must carry high static load through articulation without free play. Common uses include:

  • Motorsports — upper and lower wishbones, pushrod and pull rod ends, bellcrank pivots, anti‑roll bar links, steering racks and shock mounts
    • Chassis‑specific fitments
      • Ligier JS F4 uses PWB-8TG in all four upper wishbones (Ligier Gen 1 JSF4 / Crawford F4 (Honda K20 inline‑four cars))
      • PWB-10T is used in all chassis year Van Diemen rear lower wishbones and all lower wishbones for V.D. ’97-current cars and Elan DP08. Houses the upright pin. Often sold with bearing retaining nut 95C0020.
      • Also used in Formula Mazdas and SCCA FE/ FE2
  • Experimental aviation and aerospace — control linkages, actuator rod ends and flight control bellcranks
  • Robotics and unmanned systems — articulated joints, gimbals and actuator pivots where maintenance access is limited
  • Marine and light industrial — steering linkages, hydraulic cylinder ends and pivoting machinery joints

Plain or Grumman groove

The standard bearing (no “G” suffix) is retained with a circlip or snap ring, not supplied. Where the bearing is staked into the housing, choose the Grumman groove version — the G at the end of the part number — which is swaged in place using a wide series swaging tool. The groove does not reduce the static load rating, and circlip installations can use either version.
