Aluminum subframe floor (engine bay to bellhousing) for ’98 & up Van Diemen cars:
- 25″ in length, 20″ wide at forward end and narrows to 10″ at rear.
- 1.4mm thick heavy duty 7075-T6 aluminum finished with black anodizing. We chose to make these floors out of high grade 7075 aluminum versus other inexpensive options to keep the weight and thickness comparable to stainless steel while also providing a comparable level of strength, durability, and safety.
- Black anodizing will help visually hide dirt under the engine.
- Pre-drilled rivet holes are beautifully countersunk to provide for a clean and aerodynamic floor under the car.
- Flywheel hole pre-cut
- Aluminum floor only weights 1.95lbs, that is 4.15lbs less than the stainless steel floor.
- Stainless steel subframe floor is available at 98A2008.
About 7075-T6 aluminum: It is a high-strength aluminum alloy with excellent mechanical properties, making it ideal for highly stressed structural applications like aircraft parts, missile components, and motorsports applications. While it offers great strength, corrosion, and wear resistance, it is less corrosion-resistant than some other alloys (why we had it black anodized) and has fair machinability. It is produced by solution heat-treating and artificially aging the 7075 alloy to achieve the T6 temper.
