Wilwood 140-14879 FNSL4R Big Brake Rear Kit (Race) – Corvette C4

Wilwood’s complete Forged Narrow Superlite 4R (FNSL4R) big brake rear kit (P/N 140-14879), engineered for dedicated track use on 1988–1996 Corvette C4 (and other purpose-built vehicles using C4 rear suspension). The parking brake is eliminated and the original single-piston combination caliper is replaced with a high-efficiency, forged aluminum, fixed radial-mount four-piston Superlite caliper. Piston volume is matched to the output of the OE master cylinder on production-based Corvettes, and is also easily configured with balance-bar manual brake pedals in non-OE purpose-built race vehicles. Requires 17-inch or larger wheels; always check the wheel clearance diagram before ordering. Production chassis Corvettes require the 220-8177 flexline kit for installation (sold separately, see below); custom-built vehicles using adapted C4 suspension must specify the required line length.

The forged caliper bodies feature a Type III Mil-Spec, medium gray hard anodized finish for superior wear resistance and corrosion resistance in the piston bores. Stainless steel pistons with internal damping springs and controlled-retraction, high-temperature seals provide long-term durability and consistent performance during extreme duty use. The calipers are coupled with weight-saving two-piece rotor assemblies using 12.88″ Spec-37 alloy directional-vane GT series rotors mounted to the OE hubs with forged aluminum hats. High-temperature, high-friction BP-35 endurance race compound pads round out the system.

Important Notes

• This kit eliminates the OE parking brake mechanism.
